My whole statement is true! Chinatown and Penn Quarter may not have more but DT DC definitely has more. Why hasn't Philly been featured on Top Chef where they showcase the countries top restaurants/chefs???????

meaning the bar strip (your post was in context to nightlife areas) - and there are not 2-10 million dollar rowhomes in Boston or Philly - you do some research
And actually it has been on top chef, and constantly rated with top restaurants and restauranteurs - The Philly restaurant scene has made tremendous strides over the last 15 years - names in the business like Morimoto, Garces, Vetri, Starr (Expanded to many in NYC recently), Foo, Perrier etc.

And what do many of your rants have to do with urbanity, yes they are facets and yes DC is growing but last i checked it is a smaller city than Philly and with a lower population density than all others (SF/Boston/Philly) being discussed

So since you are including areas that are not "traditionally" considered CC, lets add up DC's numbers. Do you want to add burbs too? Just let me know. You hillbillies act like Philly is cosmopolitan. Get real. It's not on DC level. You said that Adams Morgan is a poor man's version of South Street? Million dollar rowhomes doesn't equate to poor. DC population density is at 10,000 psm. Philly is almost at 11,000. Philly is a lot closer to DC than SF at 17,000. Don't put yourself in that Manhattan category just yet.

No I actually ONLY INCLUDED areas that are part of Center City and always considered to be part of the small area that you call Center City - Basically front to 24th and Race to South - That IS what IS ALWAYS considered Center City or DOWNTOWN Philadelphia and always has been considered as such
but to add the directly adjoined neighborhoods like you did

I would put DT DC's urbanity up against Philly and Boston in a heartbeat. First of all DT DC is like three times the size of CC Philly and DC is built out. There are no surface parking lots. Philly and Boston's DT are in tiny areas, so of course they are more vibrant. Plus DC's downtown is home to the Federal government which takes up a lot of space and does not offer any retail in their buildings because of security reasons. DC's DT daytime population crushes Philly and Boston. DC's DT subway usage crush Philly and Boston. DC's commercial office space, rents, and vacancy rates crush Philly and Boston. Both cities are denser than DC and their nightlife is BS. Clubs and bars in Philly shut down at 1:45 a.m.
Since you put it this way I can see what you mean... during the day DC's Downtown foot traffic seems to be a little more extreme out of the three!!! but DC's Urbanity is very Slepted on compared to Philly and Boston's.

You've made this argument in the past and I still don't understand what the point is. Boston and Philadelphia close down at 2am. DC closes at 2am on weeknights and 3am on weekends. So most of the time it's the same, and on weekends there is an extra hour. It's better, but it's hardly a major difference.
It's not like it's an all-night city like NYC, London, São Paulo, etc. Those cities are in a whole different world. DC isn't.

Asking Rent for Class A Space:
DC: $55.42
Boston: $56.73
Philadelphia: $27.53
So while Boston and DC are far more expensive than Philadelphia...Boston is slightly more expensive than DC.
