Agreed - I still can't believe that "Chicago" is winning the poll. It's clearly Boston for the predetermined regions (New England), I'm unsure of how anyone with actual knowledge of these regions could pick either of the other options.

A surprising amount of people think NY is in New England, which would mean Boston is clearly not the dominant city. Of course, New York is not in New England, as anyone with the most basic knowledge of US history or geography would know.

I also figure a lot of people pick Chicago because it's the largest and most influential city out of the 3, and ignore the actual question of influence within the region.

I never even thought of that, could be swaying some votes, but you'd think on C-D there's be at least basic regional knowledge.

Definitely figure people are just hitting ChicagoBAM! because it's biggest, but it isn't even close to as influential on its region as Boston (nor is Atlanta).

Okay, that's a ridiculous claim. Seriously, New England is smaller than the entire state of Illinois.

Boston:

Providence, New Haven, Burlington, etc are no match, nor show any competition.

Not really, no.
Illinois:

Population total 12,882,135 (2013 est)

New England:
Area total 71,991.8 sq mi (186,458.8 km²)
Population total 14,618,806 (2013 est.)

Pretty close. Regardless, it would only be fair to compare "the most dominant city in Illinois vs. most dominant city in New England", because NE has what, 6 states, all very small in size, versus the midwest, which has 12 states, all WAY bigger than NE states, and the southeast, which has 7-12, again, much larger than NE, so there is more room for competition. There's no other major cities except maybe Hartford or Providence, but everybody knows Boston is a more well known national and to a lesser extent, national degree.

Wouldn't that ensure the fact that Boston should be winning this poll running away? What was your beef with the quote here?
