Pittsburgh (cloudy, chilly)
Boston (cold, wet)
Detroit (cloudy, cold)
Dallas (hot, humid, AND cold in January)
Seattle (wet, cloudy, cool)
Portland (wet, cloudy, cool)

Im not bashing these places im just tired of people making it seem like everyone loves hot weather im sorry but we don't. If those cities/ states had the best weather wouldn't these states have more people than the chicago metro which isn't even the biggest metro in the country.
Hmm... Not really... Climate is one of the main reasons Southern cities have had the biggest growth in population in recent years. Just search this forum and you'll see how many people are trying to get away from Chicago winters...

I understand that but people on city data make it seem like everyone loves warm weather and that is the only weather people want and that us up north envy it. Look at the post on here most people put pheonix and tuscan an el paso and albuquerque as the best weather. Well if they had the best weather wouldn't the state of new mexico and arizona and other sun belt states have bigger population than "the worst weather in the country chicagoland"

I don't need Wikipedia; I already am familiar with the Koppen climate classification. I have actual books on Meteorology. Some classify Miami as semi-tropical. It really is on the border of tropical and semi-tropical.

Something of note: The record minimum temperature (27 degrees on Feb. 3, 1917) is one degree colder than the record minimum for Los Angeles.

Compare that minimum with the minimums in some definite tropical areas:
Record minimum:

Honduras-------------- 41 degrees
El Salvador------------ 45
French Guiana--------- 54
Panama--------------- 63

And...
Honolulu, Hawaii------- 52
Hilo, Hawaii------------ 53

Agreed. I love Chicago and its climate. January and early February can be nasty but overall it is one of the cities I would move to immediately. I love spring, fall and also the hot days in summer. Winter I can deal with, most days temperatures don't dip below 20F. A winter is supposed to be snowy and cold.

Some tropical areas have record lows as low as Miami. Its the averages that makes Miami tropical. Miami is well above the monthy median cutoff temperature for year round tropical climate. Also, Miami's vegetation is more tropical than subtropical. South Florida is the only place in the continental U.S. that can grow tropical vegetation. Many they can't sustain ultra-tropical vegetation, but they can grow it nonetheless. Northern and Central Florida look closer to So Cal than South Florida.

As a native Nashvillian, I am utterly shocked to see Nashville make anyone's list:

The Summers are brutally hot and humid, just oppressive beyond belief.

The Winters are gloomy and rainy (36 degrees and rainy is far, far worse than 25 degrees and snowy). Frequent freezing rain.

Fall and Spring can be really sweet, but not worth the other two seasons imo.
