I'd say if it was 1,321,045 and they were thinking 1,638,283, it's probably going to come in around 1,492,552.

Just my guess!
Wow, grew by barely 100,000

2010: 1,445,632

Its official Phoenix, AZ population is 1,445,632.
Philly has reclaimed it spot as one of the top 5 largest cities!

Well you can finish off Chicago now at least:

By MSA:
- Chicago MSA: 9,461,105
+362,789 from 2000

By CSA:
- Chicago CSA: 9,686,021
+373,766 from 2000

I knew it, the 300K estimated gain was way too high

Why did I think it was closer to 10 Million now?

Ya know, I seriously think the Census Bureau needs to be taken to task either for their irresponsible estimates in the interim, or for their gross undercounting!

There is something that is clearly a miss.

Well honestly given the economic downturn and real esate issues in the area the growth did seem very high; that being said if a prosperous economy would have led to higher growths everywhere, including Pheonix and it becoming the 5th largest city, overall it would have been better for all of us in this country.

Were the estimates too high all along or was there a downtown in recent years with the real estate bubble - not sure if anyone knows

you should be happy, they predicted that Phoenix passed Philly about 5 years ago, but it doesn't look like it will for another 10 years. You can gloat into your retirement age

Heck, the numbers for Phoenix now may be lower than April 1st 2010

There is something worrisome about this. Maybe they need to find a new method to count now.
