You can take my hometown of NY out of there right now! NY is NOT a chocolate city!

The top 10 cities with most AA's are....

Memphis 45.3%
NOLA 34.4%
Atlanta 31.8%
Baltimore 28.8%
Mobile 27.7%
Birmingham 26.7%
DC 25.8%
Raleigh 22.3%
Charlotte 22.0%
Jacksonville 21.9%

I would say the cities with the best economies and entertainment options are DC/Baltimore or Atlanta.

Not being a "chocolate city" doesn't automatically disqualify a city from being a good city for African American families.

I thought Detroit was up there? Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland and St. Louis were all over 20%-25% at one point.

Yeah, not sure where that list is coming from. This one appears to be more accurate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ican_Americans

My list was for metro area, not city limits.

That's good, because most AA are moving out of the central city to the suburbs. People tend to forget this trend going on.

Interestingly, Detroit would be in between DC and Raleigh considering it is at 23%. Philadelphia is at 21%, Cleveland is at 20%, NYC and St. Louis are at 18% and Chicago and Milwaukee are at 17%. There are communities in all of these metros outside of the city center with at least above average Black percentages.

The list isn't talking about %. It's talking about cities that are best for AA families. That doesn't mean the cities with the most AA.
