Cause they don't plant them like crazy. Most of the palms in Houston are planted.
Because they grow better in Houston do to it's climate, do to it's location, which is right next to the shores of the Gulf Of Mexico, which has plenty of native palm trees.
Seriously? You people think Houston's more like Atlanta than L.A.?
Have you been to Houston? I mean, sure both Houston and Atlanta are in the south and sprawled, but I've ALWAYS seen Houston as more comparable to L.A. than Atlanta.
- Both Houston and L.A. are coastal cities
- Both (without the metro area) are the top 5 largest in the country
- Both have at least some major competition with the city/metro area that comes in second place in their respected states
- Both have the most complex highway systems than ANYONE (other than DFW) has ever seen.
- Hell, both L.A. and Houston actually CARE about their sports teams, one city more than the other, maybe, and both even have two FBS schools.

Oh well. I'm not in the majority, I guess...

some people may get offended by it and thus voting for ATL, but like it or not, Houston is built more like LA than ATL and is more similar to LA than ATL.
Both Houston and LA were early suburban pioneers, both grew by annexing lots of land, both were poster children for huge sprawling cities. Both are in massive counties, both have huge complex highway systems.
Houston is so much more like LA than ATL.
