I thought it was the overall city and not just downtown; Houston metropolitan area has the lowest car ownership out of it,Atlanta and Dallas.
My apologies but where else do hundreds of people walk on a daily basis? Not Mid-town, Montrose, Upper Kirby, or Uptown. TMC might count.

Because the OP wanted to know which city between Houston, Dallas, Atlanta and Memphis had more pedestrian traffic not which city in the South had the most pedestrian traffic thus no other cities were included. With that said, among the cities not included only New Orleans in my view would be head and shoulders above any other city likely to be listed. Miami and Atlanta are on par with each other albeit in totally different ways.

Are you suggesting Midtown/Downtown Atlanta beats out all of Houston and Dallas. That's my point. It's not as cut and dry as people are making it out to be.

Of the four It would say Atlanta. But the cities with the most foot traffic in the downtown area would be San Antonio and New Orleans then Atlanta and the rest. San Antonio would be the top in the south.
