They all to me basically feel aboutr the size they are; even when driving through

And HTown read again, I said the only metros that feel larger are NYC, Chicago, and LA - meaning they feel larger and surprise, they are

Also, 50 miles of non-stop development honestly to me seems like a norm for a large metro and in many instances I am used to much larger distances than just 50 miles so while i agree it feels large; it is not really something that seems at all unique. I am not saying it seems smaller but that it doesnt feel like a mamoth metro like and LA or NYC; even by car

and two year old, because someone disagrees you suggest they be quiet; yep seems like a two yo mentality to me

On size Houston, DFW and Atlanta all feel very expansive, no doubt but they also feel very sprawled which seeing vast swaths of open space makes it feel as it is large, expansive and large in population, but about the feel of what it is - that is no slight at all but Houston as an example yeilds to a whole lot of nothing after a while and the huge interchanges especially as you get further out to me make everything feel more spread and thus I get the feeling that it is less populated. Is the highway system expansive, yes but does that make it feel larger population wise, no; it just feels more like a sunbelt city as the inverse may make it feel not like a subelt city. It isnt good or bad, but it feels the size it is. LA feels bigger as it goes on and on and pretty much continuously developed, it gives a much different feel so to me is how I compare the two and Houston feels smaller and about its size in this relative comparison...
you will never get what was so easy for everyone else in this thread (even the ones who disagreed) got right off the bat.
no point talking to you if you have a thumb stuck in either ear.

I understand the premis and have said it does not feel bigger than it is what is so difficut to understnad, or just fail to accept someone who has a differing opinion

others here share your point, no wait, actually only one person voted smaller so that may have been you.

I think you understand what people here are saying, but you just love being difficult

TMC doesn't compare to downtown Fort Worth. Its larger in square miles but dont get it twisted Fort Worth packing a lot more at street level and lower development than what pictures may percieve.

I get exactly where you're coming from. Does Houston feel like a big city?? Yes, but does it feel bigger than it is?? For me it doesn't. It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly what Houston feels like because it's very spread gigantic and enormous. I will say metro Houston feels bigger than DFW [and Miami imo], but I couldn't place it in an exact population category like whether it feels like 6, 7 or 8 million is something I can't do because the layout and feel of many areas; it all differentiates.

FW does have a lot more street level activity than Dallas or Houston, but I would not count the med center out. That thing has tons of foot activity. But anyway, it was an unfair statement to say that FW district is so small that TMC gives it a run for its money because TMC is beginning to give DT Houston and Dallas a run for their money too.

I-20 in GP and South Arlington have the most development. Same with South and SW Fort Worth. Maybe you mean South Dallas and the South Dallas suburbs. That part of I-20 is so wide open and gives DFW a country feel. The only part of Houston like that is South Beltway 8, but you always see the skylines in the distance on that part of Beltway 8.

I think Houston feels bigger but not much bigger. I think the City of Dallas feels bigger than a city of 1M but I think the Metro doesn't feel as big as Houston Metro because the strings of development isn't maintained for as long.

As DFW highways improve and the spread of buildings along them increases, DFW will feel a lot bigger than Houston because there are a heck more freeways up there.
I don't know about this. I don't think we'll even see buildings strung out along I-20 and I-30 between Dallas and Fort Worth. The freeways that are being expanded either already have buildings along them, or can't have tall buildings along them (like the 121 expansion near DFW Airport). You'll see more low-rise and suburban development. And the Fort Worth side has a LONG way too go. Currently, the North Dallas suburbs are sucking most of the white collar jobs away, so there is no need for new commercial high-rises in Fort Worth. Also, your post is assuming Houston doesn't have similar freeway expansions. Not sure if number of freeways really matters that much. I mean, it is two metro areas in one. People don't really leave their side of the Metroplex.

Agree it feels about as large as it is; if anything the flatness is different but to me only visually enhances how spread the city is, not really making it feel like there is more people.
