One thing I can tell you about this ¨nightlife¨ thing, is that in Miami (where I live), it is rare to find any intellectualism in the nightlife, it is mostly hedonism. It´s all about seeing and being seen, drinking expensive cocktails, dressing sexy, beautiful people, act like you have money, maybe dance a little...guys want to get laid, and women want attention *and* sometimes want to get laid, blah blah blah, I have seen it a million times....

If the music is loud, there is no real conversation, only texting, so there is nothing to talk about except superficiality.
What´s funny is that most of the clubbys will tell you they just want to unwind. The problem is most of these people can barely carry on an informed intellectual-based conversation even in the daytime.

Ahhh yes... Miami nightlife. Excuse me while I go bang a hot chick now
Pretty much agree with this entire post, especially the highlighted parts. Basically its why I rarely go to these bars anymore, unless it is with a few close friends. When I do go out it will usually be to a restaurant, concert, comedy club or occasionally a club for dancing.

To the OP, some of our teenagers may disagree but Long Island has alot of nightlife, at least by suburban standards. When I lived in Queens, I sometimes found myself driving out to the Island on the weekends. And I suppose kids from Long Island would drive into the City.

And you are for judging an obviously sarcastic post? Then you proceed to tie that in with something I essentially might be? Mayhaps the word you were looking for was humble, as my was my post was not humble. Unless you have access to my old college coursework or something and better fit to judge?

You seem quiet defensive for someone who was attempting sarcasm.

3. Many other cities with great nightlife (including Miami depending on where you go) that you can strike intelligent conversations all night. Especially in the lounges and classier bars.
4. Music is awesome.
5. Dancing is awesome.
1. My point had nothing to do with Hedonism not being "awesome".
2. Miami is definitely an outlier on many things not just nightlife, but that is what I love about the place.
3. So, I'd love to hear which "lounges & classy bars" in Miami do you believe you can strike up intelligent conversations "all night" (interested to hear your response)
4. My point had nothing to do with music not being awesome.
5. My point had nothing to do with dancing not being aweseome.

Milwaukee: Visited the first time not long ago and really enjoyed it. Its clean and has a "small town" feel in a city. The lakefront is wonderful. I'm a huge fan of Lake Michigan.

Cleveland: Awesome food, an evolving and growing city that has big plans and is actually following through with them.

Pittsburgh: Great universities, beautiful topography, some beautiful views of Downtown and, even though its not my thing, a sports culture that's hard to beat.
Agreed on all three. I always find new things that impress me every time I visit. All have great and interesting areas to explore and things to do.

I would also add Baltimore to the list of cities which I was pleasantly surprised.
