Maybe so...why don't you show some numbers with a source then?
Edit: also you're wrong, the list for Philly on Yelp covers all of the city, not just center city. It may be an incomplete list (as it may be for every city on yelp, SF included), but it's not limited to center city, which a quick glance at the little yelp map can tell you. Also, it's a list of bars, and i'm pretty sure it doesn't include restaurants that serve alcohol, so i don't know if "350 outdoor cafes that serve alcohol in center city" really means anything here (SF has lots and lots of cafes and restaurants that serve alcohol downtown too anyways...not to mention tons of corner stores and supermarkets that sell alcohol, etc).
I don't know where to get a better list but I can tell you that this one is severely wrong. 42 dive bars? That's insane there are about 30 dive bars just along the 14 blocks of east oregon in south philly. So either that count is way off or 80 percent of the dive bars in philly are located in this one tiny location.. I'm inclined to believe the former. San fran's list is likely also misrepresented... But it's just so far off I don't think it's useful.

Well just a quick yahoo serach yields 2,344 philadelphia bars - Yahoo! Search Results of which it shows 389 in the less than 2sq miles of Center City. Have you really spent time Philly there is as much a bar culture as any city in the US; not saying that is good or bad but really there are few cities with the bar culture let alone more and to me SF (though a decent bar culture) is not one that surpasses.
For this link I am also pretty sure it is also not 100% accurate but probably more realistic
You sure can't beat South St. scene with some hot women. SF scene is boring and snobby! Philly rules here. Love that bowling by the waterfront with the cool blond chic I've met.

Kidphilly, I've stated that I like Philly and its people. People there are funny, friendly, vocal and sometimes at your face. They're very colorful and animated. If it's hot, they'll tell you in a big way and complain about it, wanting my endorsement. I also like the history and some of food. I also like South Philly and some of the tight neighborhoods there. There's one I'm not crazy about which is downtown because it's hit and miss with lots of surface lots.
I know people already stated that this was wrong but I had to say something because there are literally whole neighborhoods in NE Philly and South Philly that have bars on every corner. 55 Sports Bars? In Philly? LOL. I'd imagine Center City alone has this many places.
Anyway, I'd say both nightlife scenes are pretty good.
I'm pretty sure Philly has more options but I'd need to see something in writing. One thing I really like about Philly is the outdoor scene. I didn't see too many places with sidewalk seating, outdoor beer gardens or rooftop bars in SF.
