Haha! I'll withhold judgment because I have never been to Fresno. Don't they have a fairly nice minor league stadium downtown?

You have got to be kidding me? Are we talking about the same two cities? Yes, San Jose's downtown is pitifully small for the 10th largest city in the U.S. No, it is not some deserted urban cesspool as some have described.

Downtown San Jose has gone through somewhat of a revitalization over the past 10-15 years. Not only have there been many new relatively "high density" (for San Jose) housing projects, but there have also been an influx of office, entertainment, culture and arts into the area, including the San Jose Rep Theater, Tech Museum, Children's Discovery Museum, San Jose Arena, Adobe Headquarters and a New City Hall. This far exceeds what is found in downtown Fresno, from what I have seen has mostly a struggling pedestrian mall and minor league baseball stadium.

Orlanda might not have the largest downtown, but I like it because it has enough going on to satisfy me. There is a number of things to along Church Street and all over downtown. Overall, I think it is a very good place to visit as well as the Orlanda Metro Area.

When I moved to Phoenix 15 years ago I thought the downtown area was a deadzone for such a large city.

It has made a lot of nice enhancements since then though.

There are now more things to do after the evening crush hour, restaurants, sports, theaters, and bars are more plentiful.

ASU-downtown and light rail were major players that helped too.

What's still missing is downtown shopping, most of the good stores are in the malls.

L.A. Live is indeed in downtown Los Angeles at Figeroura & Olymic. As a local when I'm downtown I rarely go there. Occassionally I'll go to a Laker game, or an event at the convention center like the auto show. Also I've been to the Grammy Museum. It serves its purpose because its always crowded and strangely enough, out of towners like places like this. I like it because its an improvement to what was there before and its bringing in all kinds of development to the southwestern end of dt LA.

It covers a very small percentage near the SW corner of downtown LA.
