Maybe bc Im on the eastern side of the DC area around i95 but it seems most of DC's traffic woes are around Mont County and the VA burbs, bc sometimes I cant go less than 70mph on the beltway

PG is really good with traffic. The road that goes to Waldorf is bad and new york ave leaving dc too. but for the most part East of the city is better.

New York is easily the worst. If you don't believe me, try taking the Midtown Tunnel into the City at 3:30 am on a Sunday morning. The difference between NYC and pretty much every other city is that the traffic's around the clock. In DC, the Beltway is clear at 1:00 am. In New York, there's no time of day where you can just cruise over the GW Bridge and then fly through the City on the Cross-Bronx. There's always traffic.

I guess it's a total mystery how I've achieved the impossible dozens of times over the past couple of years. I drive into Manhattan on a regular basis for work, all you need is a traffic app or even a radio tuned to Bloomberg. It's rare for all of the river crossings to be jammed.

I didn't say ALL of the crossings, did I?

In DC, I can take pretty much any route into the city at 1:00 am and have the road virtually to myself.

-Route 50 (New York Ave). That's clear at 1:00 am.

-66 from Virginia. That's clear.

-395 from Arlington. That's clear by 8 usually.

-Georgia Ave from Silver Spring. Yep, that's clear, too.

I could even drive all the way around the Beltway unimpeded at 10:00 pm on a Friday night.

In NYC, unlike the DC area, the traffic is not designated to rush hour alone. You could be backed up on the BQE at 2:00 am on a Thursday.

Not true at all. I was stuck on the beltway at 3:00 a.m. this past weekend with a thousand other motorist in PG county because they are repaving the lanes. Out by Tyson's, metro contruction and road projects are causing major delays at all times.

That's not a frequent occurrence. In New York, the Midtown Tunnel is backed up every day, all day. The same goes for the Cross-Bronx. I mean, this would only make since considering that there are more people in the Five Boroughs than there are in the Baltimore-Washington CSA.

You have to take any and everything into consideration that contributes to gridlock. You can't cherry pick. A truck full of chickens coming from Delaware crashed on Rt 50 a few years back and caused a 20 mile back up. Does that happen everyday? No, but it contributes to the gridlock.

That doesn't make any sense. That's like saying Woodstock, New York should be listed as one of the largest cities in the U.S. because hundreds of thousands of people were there one weekend in August.
