Yeah I guess that has to be true Detroit has had it so tough, festival cancelled years ago... plus now it's kind of associated with hip-hop thanks to Eminem. But I doubt it's lost the connection.
Sure NY probably takes the cake being that NY is the real 'king of clubs' and I guess your list could be correct, at least numbers 1, 2 and 3 (and I suppose 4 but I have no clue about Vegas). I don;t really know so that'll be my last comment.
Vegas attracts "super star" Dj's. Its club culture is VIP, dress to impress, red carpet treatment. Basically the people who like to live the high life, but have no taste in music what so ever.
There is no "underground" scene in Vegas to speak of as is in NYC, Chicago, SF, & LA.
The only electronic artists I can think of that have come out of Vegas are the Crystal Method.

Heh, I remember in Vegas they had Dubfire (from Deep Dish spinning) and cancelled it about an hour into the set b/c the crowd had complained and wanted hip hop...
Huge fan of dubstep here, I hate rap music but rap music dubsteps are always the best. Listen to this one for example. Dubstep IMO is the greatest thing to have ever happened to Hip Hop..
