Yes, but only until they went downhill, steeply.

To be fair Philly I will also poke at some real losers in Philly, namely Street - Pay for play politics
John Street was not a very ethical mayor, not only with the pay for play politics but also some pretty severe cronyism, not to mention the fact that the government was about as transparent as soviet russia's under street's reign. That being said, he also presided over a large part of the recent 20 year upswing this city enjoyed, and did some good things.

If you're looking for bad Philadelphia Mayors, I'd go back a couple of mayors to Frank Rizzo and then Wilson Goode.

Both were terribly corrupt in a fashion that made street's corruption look almost cute in comparison. Both were mayor during the worst period economically speaking of Philadelphia's history, and neither did anything to help Philadelphia's backward fall into financial hardship and awful crime. Rizzo also brought to the table a side of brutal police tactics and some not very subtle racism, while Wilson Goode spiced up his corruption by literally BOMBING the city of Philadelphia. Pretty sure that's still the only time a mayor ordered the bombing of his own city.

Both terrible. Both Corrupt. Both make John Street look like he was a politician on the level FDR instead of the bad-mediocre politician that he was.

That said I don't think any Philadelphia mayor even deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence as Marion Barry... who was a legit insane person.

I'd have to say Las Vegas. The city was built by the mob and run by gangsters for decades, but today all the casinos are owned by major corporations and it seems there is no more organized crime there.

Washington, D.C. of course for its history of corruption especially when Democrats are in power.

Atlanta - It was looted, rampaged, and pillaged by the Yankee soldiers during the war, and also had a very tough time through the civil rights period but it is a prosperous and proud Southern city today despite challenges with crime and pollution

New Orleans - the myths of voodoo and sorcery (though most if not all of it is fiction), the terrible RECENT history

Los Angeles - The Rodney King riots were some of the darkest days in modern American history, plus the history of repeated earthquakes, and more and more illegal immigration, plus the Reconquista movement

I vote for NOLA because of the disgusting cuisine to come from the city, the location being in a swamp and the major saying he wants to "make NOLA a chocolate city".
You cannot be serious. New Orleans has one of the best cuisines not only in the US but in the world. The chocolate thing is recent and yes mayor Nagin is a racist, but probably not any more so than our current President.

I would be way more proud of being home to the mob (Chicago or NY) over SF (hippie movement). Atleast the mob history is interesting to me.
Oh yes plus San Francisco is also the heart of the gay movement as well.

His posts scream "right-winger" so he'd definitely see equality for all as a negative.

So you acknowledge that the civil rights period in Atlanta were bad times yet gay bigotry is OK? Gay people don't deserve civil rights? That's quite a dichotomy there

Yeah, and there is absolutely no correlation at all between corruption and Republicans in power.
