Come on guys, I wanna hear length and width in miles not square miles. Square miles are not always accurate( L.A. has hills and mountains). Example:
Fresno California is from 12-14 miles north to south and 8-10 miles east to west. This is Fresno city limits only and is a rough estimate. Population on city limit sign is 500,121.

houston is not regularly shaped, but at its widest (east to west) is about 25 miles, and at its tallest (north to south) is about 15 miles. But there are off shoots that circle the airport, NASA and other areas giving the city an odd shape

Jersey City is 14.9 square miles, or about 3.5 miles by 4 miles. You can walk across the city north-south or east-west in about an hour.

Interesting that Philadelphia (135 Sq Miles) is the only city to have +1 Million population and less than 200 Square Miles. San Jose (175 Sq Miles) is very close with a population of about 900,000.
Does anyone know what the area of Philly would be if Fairmount Park were not included?

Wikipedia states Philly occupies approximately 142.6 square miles. At 14.3 square miles, Fairmont Park encompasses roughly 10% of the corporate limits. If you subtract the area of the park and that of the airport at 3.6 square miles (nearly all of that in the city limits), you end up with a figure of roughly 125 square miles.

the airport area is that small?

Hobby and Ellington field together are about that size. IAH covers about 5 times as much land tho. It is about 17 sq miles. DFW airport is even more sprawling. It probably takes up twice that land area.

GB park is about 10 sq miles, and there are 2 other parks that are about 8 sq miles here. Think its Cullen and Bear Creek. There are over 400 parks here everything is a park nowadays

Wow.......I was expecting Houston to be more taller north and south than that.
I was expecting 30-35 miles by the way city data posters make it seem.
