Then, what does that say about Detroit if it is simply about the percentage?
Anyway, this is pretty tough given that I grew up on Ebony and Jet and use Luster products, which are all made in Chicago and have family in the area. On the other hand, I had a sister that went to Howard and was around that scene a little bit as a kid and there is plenty of history there pertaining to Black folks in various ways. There are many things to consider, but I may give the slight edge to Chicago due to aspects of popular culture(i.e.- Soul Train started there for example). I don't feel completely confident about this though.
Percentage means squat for this subject. Los Angeles has a very low Black pop percentage but it has been one of the most influential black communities for the past 40-50 years good and bad. The only relevance percentage has is the presence within it's OWN area. Not with the rest of the nation.
NYC, LA, Chi make blacks look bad... along with Philly, Baltimore, Detroit, etc DC is the only city where we look good.
