Looking at only the core hoods of each city, the lines between urban and suburban are more easily drawn.
But when you take urban area (or what would be considered "the city") into account, the discussion changes. For example, Houston has a sprawl which is more similar to New Orleans than Atlanta. Phoenix's sprawl is closer in density to that of Miami than Charlotte.
