I actually don't know any "bay area" rappers (or singers for that matter), outside of E-40. But was he ever taken serious?

Many of you are listing cities, but no bands/artists. Please start listing bands too so, I can start listening/supporting some of these artists. Thanks.

lol I never really took e 40 serious. The best and most lyrical underground rappers are from Philly, Jersey and New York.

This is a very important point, LYRICAL. There are "rappers" and then there are lyricist who are just on an entirely different level underground or mainstream, and yeah in my experience they tend to come out of this area as you said. With the exception of Common and Lupe (although they aren't underground I know)

Yeah I like Lupe and Common and they are great lyricist but like you said they are mainstream.
