To pit SF and LA together, or apart and get outside of Core SF as it is obviously denser. What city would be easier to live without a car though or extremely car light and enjoy all the amenities? The neighborhoods such as Hollywood or mid-wilshire in LA? Or areas in the Bay Area such as Berkeley, Albany, Oakland by the BART stops.

I'd say Hollywood and Mid-Wilshire though the other neighborhoods in the East Bay are certainly not bad. The problem being BART is more a regional system (MUNI serves SF) and I am not sure how reliable AC Transit is, especially compared to Metro which is generally pretty reliable.
I generally try to avoid buses unless they are express buses, but a ferry is just... no. You'd have to be willing to freeze your butt off every morning and a big commute time to take the Larkspur ferry into SF every day. I always saw it as more of a weekend thing to enjoy. Vallejo ferry might be different, not sure.

It is pretty cold in the Northeast part of the Bay. Doesn't sound fun.
When I worked in Richmond and lived in Pleasanton I could have BART'ed into Richmond and take the bus right to my office, the only issue being the bus line is one of the most dangerous in the nation and almost got shut down for the safety of the drivers

Seriously? I didn't any part of the Bay Area gets much in the way of cold. Anyway, ferries usually have an indoor section.

For an otherwise wealthy metro that has a lot well-off urban sections, the the San Francisco metro has a surprisingly high amount of very dangerous spots.
9 years ago Downtown Houston was hosting Super Bowl XXXVIII.
Looks like they let all of Harris County loose for the Main Event.
On a side note LA hasn't hosted a single Super Bowl in the past 40+ years...sad.
Not in the city. But in its metro.
