I am overruling the OMB.

Mercer(across the river from morrisville Pa) ( pop. 375,000)
-Hunterdon NJ(across the river from New Hope Pa)(pop 130,000) But top 5 wealthiest counties in USA

Northampton PA (pop 300,000)
Lehigh PA (350,000)

All Should be in Philly not NYC.

So swap 1.2 M people from NYC csma to Phillys and we're good.

Thanks Valentro.

The top 5 now appear solidly so.

I am still POd about Stockton, but I pretty much knew it was going to happen when I tabulated their 2010 commuter numbers last week. They went from 12% in 2000 to 18% in 2010.

The addition in Chicago surprised me. Only one of the counties makes sense. One of the other counties isn't that far from Davenport, Iowa. Honestly..what?

If anything they should have added where Rockford, IL is (Rockford, IL has an MSA population of about 350,000). If they would have added that plus La Salle County (where Ottawa, IL is), then the CSA would have increased by about 465,000 people and this is more accurate than what they did IMO.

Wow! I didn't think Athens MSA would be added to the Atlanta CSA this quickly! I knew it was coming, but I thought it would be another 10 years. Gwinnett Co., which is a core Atlanta suburb has alot of jobs. There are alot of people commuting between Gwinnett and Athens both ways. There has also been a great deal of exurban development in between along GA 316.

Man, this will make the Atlanta CSA on a map seem like a huge behemoth...especially since they gave Athens MSA the mostly rural county of Oglethorpe far to the east. It has fewer than 14,000 people!

Notice they combined Merced and Modesto into a CSA? That was a surprise to me, considering that the traffic going between Merced and Modesto is MUCH much less than the traffic between Modesto and Stockton. If any places should've combined, it should've been Modesto and Stockton. Oh well.
They are all destined to be part of the Bay Area, sadly.

The only difficult metro to speculate on is Sacramento. Otherwise I can see Lake, Merced, Mendocino, Monterey and Stanislaus counties eventually combining with the Bay in the next few decades. Thats about 1.3 million people even now.

Sacramento will depend on the Bay Areas home prices and how far people are willing to commute.

The High Speed Rail project, which in its current form I loathe, is probably going to hasten Sac joining the Bay, but thats decades away.

Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, and San Diego remained the same.

Wish everywhere did. Nothing to be proud of adding podunks and sprawling across the horizon. Agh and agh.
