^^^the funny part is if you hear chief keef in his interviews he doesn't even speak with a 'drawl'; he barely speaks anyway. He only sounds like that in his music. HE sounds like he's trying to mimick Gucci Mane's accent.
but twista, dabrat, and kanye (when he's not trying to sound like a Kardashian) sound a little 'countryish'.
I think NYC and Chicago has more of an influence on the South than the other way around really.
The southern influence from people moving to these big cities would be only minimal after a few years, because they would begin to adopt the characteristics of the said cities.
Neither. Not in culture, politics, accent, food, music, fashion, arts, city layout, nothing.
Lot of Black southerners moved up to Chicago and Detroit to find work back in the day so its not fair to say they have no influence on the culture, its not a huge influence but they have some.
I'm probably not an expert but all the Chigago-born Black people I've met have had Southern accents as opposed to what I see here in NYC. They speak Ebonics but definitely not with a Southern accent.
