If in a post 9/11 world you're afraid to build legitimate skyscrapers, then don't(we understand). But what you don't do is build average height buildings, put a big stick on top, and try to act like your a legitimate player in the game. No one is buying it. And quite frankly, here in Chicago, we're embarrassed for you.(imho)
um, look, i think the Reason 1 WTC (or as people who wanna call it by its cheesy name "freedom tower") has that spire and hight to the roof because its the exact height to the roof and antenna that the north tower of the previous WTC had. They're not trying to compete for WTB at all. They are well aware of whats already out there. Its more about class and symbolism than anything to them. However, go to Midtown with the NY times tower, and that's fake height. The Spire is huge. The Bank of America is a little different though, its spire is huge because it uses green technology up there to do something in the tower. Although, its included in official height, its not just for height. And The Conde nast building doesn't count its gigantic antenna in its height because its an antenna and it was a replacement when for the Antenna that once stood on the North Tower of the WTC

And Quite Frankly, i believe Trump tower's spire is included in official height

I hate buildings that don't have a base. The Spire doesn't but they pull it off..And now that they're building so many skyscapers, It's like making a seperate skyline. that's probably is what they're going for.
