Only tropical places that you can visit without a passport.
There are no wrong choices! All places are beautiful!
For me personally I choose the Florida Keys, if I had the money to afford a house down there (and a job lined up) I would move there tomorrow. Love the laid back, relaxing Caribbean like atmosphere. The beautiful scenic drive over the ocean to get to each of the main islands, the color of the water, the awesome fishing (some of the best in the world), love Key West and the way it looks, like the beaches too. Love exploring other islands with my boat, there's several hundred (I think over a thousand) different islands (though most of them are uninhabited). Love seeing dolphins and sea turtles and other wildlife!
It's also cheaper than those other destinations and it's not super isolated either, I can still drive to other islands or go back to the mainland, though it takes a long time.

There are also several nice islands off the Georgia and Carolina coasts, and Cedar Key in Florida, Dauphin Island Alabama, Grand Isle Louisiana, and Padre and Galveston Islands in Texas, and Catalina and Balboa Island in California. Plus some uninhabited ones you can go to which are mostly wildlife preserves.

American Samoa is as beautiful or more than any on the list...
Ah yes, I forgot about Guam and Samoa. Also I apologize for the other places I left out Jtur88. I know there are some really great islands in other states, my personal favorite is Jekyll Island off of Georgia. However those places are not tropical climates.

It's the Westin Key West Resort Marina. It's a very nice resort, though a bit pricey, but totally worth it! It's on it's own island just off of Key West.
If I were to move to an island it would be Sardinia or Crete.
