New York is the headquarters for NBC, FOX, ABC, Comedy Central, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, etc. The important influence is in New York, the Hollywood "waste-3-hours-of-my-life-watching-people-in-movies-get-paid-to-pretend-like-I-did-when-I-was-3-years-with-Matchbox-cars" influence is unimportant.
Atlanta is the Headquarters of CNN, The Weather Channel, TBS, TNT, Headline News, TCM, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, as well as corporate giants like Coca-Cola, Georgia-Pacific, Delta Airlines, UPS, etc. It doesn't mean that its impact on the culture is anything like that from Los Angeles, despite a huge media presence, much like New York.
