I think for us that care, we should report the thread until it gets locked or deleted. Please don't lie to us next time, OP.

Obviously, though you won't find economists quoting GDP by CSA. And nominal growth rates are worthless.

No, they really dont care because the difference changes nothing as far as the result and ranking.

This is a thread Ive been doing for 5+ years and the same chorus of complainers sing the same tired sour grapes lullaby.

Changes nothing eh? So the Bay Area CSA being #3, even though its pretty clear that SF MSA would be 9th or 10th instead of 3rd is "changes nothing"

I see

Do the robust growth rates mean anything to the world outside of the United States?

I cant help but notice that the United States is relatively prospering right now. While much of the world enters a recession, economic turmoil, or prolonged labor declines (due to aging), and in the case with Greece and the likes, completely incompetent governments.

Does this mean American cities are becoming more dominant players in the world economy? I mean now, it just looks like a matter of a decade at most until New York eclipses Tokyo's mega-sized $2 Trillion dollar economy.

Compared to other places, US cities are far more economically dominant and productive than they are given credit for being.

So Blythe, CA (222 miles away from Los Angeles) adds to LA's economy? Gotcha

California has some big counties.... You think it contributes much to the Riverside MSA economy? If you want to gripe, you might want to pick a better example.

Just came back from Tokyo recently. NYC is definitely closing the gap. Tokyo is starting to suck in people from their own suburbs and exurbs now just to maintain modest population growth. I'd say after 2020 even Tokyo would start posting population declines.

As far as construction goes, Tokyo still beats NYC when it comes to new infrastructure projects, but NYC is building at least 2x or 3x when it comes to buildings and skyscrapers.
