Denver is not like any other US City I visited.. that place is totally unique and you know you are in Denver. I love that Colorado and Denver culture.. awesome awesome place.
Calgary is alot like Denver, imho. The Canadian Denver..
It definitely looks very similar to Denver. Similar sized skyline with the Rockies in the distance, though politically I would think there must be some difference. Calgary's federal MPs are all conservatives, and its politics at that level have been dominated by the CPC for a long time. Locally a bit more diverse but still more right wing than Denver.
Like Portland or any other city across this great country of ours isn't full of suburbia.
Sacramento has some very nice architecture including the Captiol Building, Crocker Art Museum, Llewellyn Williams Mansion, The Citizen Hotel, Governors Mansion, The Stanford Mansion/Museum, Stanley Mosk Library and Counts building, Senator Hotel Building, Central library downtown.
Sacramento's Train Station is being restored to it's 1926 original renaissance revival style. Old Sacramento has quite a selection of late 1800's architectural gems.
The 156 ft Ziggurat Pyramid office building on the west side of the Sacramento River is spectacular when all a glow in gold at night. Many Sacramento high rises are rather unique or quite representative of the period they were built.
Sacramento has neighborhoods full of Victorian and Craftman style homes.
The Red Rabbit gigantic art piece at Sacramento's airport is quite a showpiece and bigger than Denver Airports blue bear- same artist as Denver's blue bear.
Sacramento is currently building the best and most attractive sports arena in the nation.
Might I add, there isn't a single bridge in Portland as attractive as Sacramento's Tower Bridge, IMHO, and I fully acknowledge that Portland has a ton of bridges and needs like 5 more to even compete.
In terms of outdoorsy folk Sacramento is very much like Denver even more so.
For one thing Denver ALWAYS ranks higher than sac for outdoor activities in any poll. And DIA does not have a Blue Bear!!!!!!!! The Blue Bear is downtown at the CC. The Horse at DIA is blue, and killed the creator of it! And are you really trying to compare DIA to whatever tiny little airport you all use? Please.

I'm not sure I'd say Calgary is more right wing than Denver. They have a gay Muslim mayor and Canadian conservatives are still probably as liberal as the more conservative Democrats in America.
Like Denver, Sacramento has an abundant amount of mountain activities (hiking, climbing, skiing, camping) easily accessible. Regarding outdoorsy folk, Sacramento, within the city/metro, has much more water recreation(rivers and lakes) than Denver, and Sacramento has ocean activities, deep sea fishing, surfing, sailing, etc. easily doable as a single day trip.
Regarding Lawrence Argent's art pieces, Sacramento's Red Rabbit is larger than Denver's blue bear, and cooler because it has that spider-man-esque thing going on in its design. And, Yes, so sorry I meant the convention center not the airport when referring to the blue bear
