Ashland, KY or Tempe, AZ?
Tempe... Fun city in a great metro with the only downside being scorching summers. Don't know much about Ashland other than its proximity to Huntington but it doesn't seem appealing to me.

Salt Lake City, UT or San Antonio, TX?

I'll take SLC even though I have never been. It is high up on my list of intriguing places and seems very livable for a young family like mine. This isn't a blowout though...although we don't love San Antonio I think we could make it work particularly if there is a good neighborhood up north closer to Austin.

Virginia Beach, VA v Richmond, VA

Virginia Beach due to having family in the area, it is a generally safe city and you have the beach.

Oneonta NY or Athens OH?

Athens... I'm not a huge fan of living in SE Ohio, but Athens as a town has more going on than Oneonta, and with Oneonta being nearly as geographically isolated along with having harsher winters, I can confidently choose Athens in this case.

McAlester, OK or Rolla, MO?

Ehhhh. I'll take Rolla, looks like it's Asian percentage is decent.

Omaha, more walkable and I deal with cold better than heat. And I've explored a lot of Arizona but never been to Nebraska or Iowa.

Lee Vining. Would prefer to be near Yosemite and Mono Lake. Eureka seems too grey and chilly.

Oxford, OH or Oxford, MS?

I think I would take Ohio. I'm not very familiar with either but MS is a little too lacking in progressive culture and racial issues continue to persist. It is of course possible that the same is true in the Ohio town but I'll take my chances. The major drawback is Ole Miss being a major SEC school vs Miami of Ohio, but I think I'd be fine with that in the end.

Sacramento v Charlotte

Charlotte easily, although I like both cities. Charlotte is a very nice place. It will be interesting to see Lynx expanded.

Lexington, KY or Oklahoma City, OK?

Definitely Lexington. I didn't care for OKC when I visited.

Westerly, RI or Beloit, WI?
