Miami, TX is tiny and remote with about 600 people. Abilene has about 6,500. Abilene has the Eisenhower home & museum. Kansas City, MO is slightly over 2 hours away. Denver is 6-7 hours west. Probably a little greener than Miami, TX too.
San Antonio, TX or St. Louis, MO ?

San Antonio for being in TX and almost no winters and pretty riverwalk

Reno, NV or Orem, UT?
Reno, NV
Much closer to Sacramento, Bay Area, and Monterey County where I know people. Near beautiful Lake Tahoe. Not a problem gambler, so could live there despite the casinos. Not being Mormon could make me have 2nd class status in Orem, though that may be changing (?). Proximity to familiar areas still favors Reno.
