Hell, given that Southerners are the largest migrants into Detroit and comprise of the largest regional migrants in Detroit (yes, even over Midwesterners) that even Detroit would be a more suitable option on the poll than Phoenix.

Oh by the way, these are for transplants from each of the 4 census defined regions (Northeast, Midwest, South, West) for transplants coming from elsewhere from the state the city is located in. So, take Washington DC-Baltimore CSA for example, for the transplants from the Southern United States, it is the number of transplants from the South who are NOT FROM Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, or West Virginia -- the states in the CSA.
Cool data. Where did you get this source from?

Chicago Tops Country for Company Expansions & Relocations for Second Year in a Row - The City That Works - Curbed Chicago

Ok it looks like for the last two years Chicago took back the lead, but Houston is still by far the leader in the south on that category

. Houston has ranked No. 1 or No. 2 on the annual survey since 2011. It received the top ranking in 2009, 2012 and 2013.

That's for expansions and relocations combined, but good info nonetheless.

Wasn't expecting to see Atlanta ahead of DFW there.

Expansions and relocations speak to the same thing, positive business environment.

Wasn't expecting to see ATL above DFW either, but I know ATL courts corporations vigorously.

Of course, but relocations were mentioned specifically. Either way, this is probably the closest thing we'll see to data that tabulates such.

As does DFW/Texas. I guess I was surprised since Atlanta's economy, better now but still not as healthy as DFW's, was pretty much the pits for most of 2014.

I guess Atlanta is going to a get a lot of votes here because despite being 4th in metro population of the big South cities and the worst economy of them all, it is the only major city situated in the Deep South and it is the one that has Southern culture on full display.
You forget to mention that Atlanta has the most homers on City-Data out of all the cities in this poll.

A better question would be based on OP criteria is which of the big four has the most balance?

Power is too hard to quantify when none of the cities dominate in all categories.
