Great. Now tell me how many of those are in San Jose.
Ive eaten extensively in both cities and if we are ONLY comparing SAN JOSE to HOUSTON then Houston does have a better eating scene.
Mono mono: Houston metro vs San Jose metro, not including SF Metro(Menlo Park North). San Jose Metro creams Houston Metro on so many things: weather, scenery, diversity, foods, happening districts, big city amenities and so on.

Im convinced you know very little about Houston.
If you think San Jose beats Houston on big city ammenities, youve lost your damn mind. Tell me about the fine arts offerings in San Jose vs. the city with the 2nd largest Theater district in the US. Tell me about the museums in San Jose vs. Houston.
It does not "cream" Houston on food. Anyone who has eaten extensively in both would tell you that. Again, were talking about the cities, not the Bay Area as a whole.
Both Houston and San Jose are exceptionally diverse places. I wouldnt find that one blows the other one out of the water on a statistical level. San Jose may have the edge, but its not a dramatic difference. San Jose obviously has a very diverse Asian populace, but San Jose is 3% black which dings it down a few pegs on total diversity.

Oh I thought this was city vs. city, not metro vs. metro. OP never mentioned metro, if I'm not mistaken. Because the SJ Metro wins, but the city of Houston wins, IMO.

You know, you're right! The actual city of San Jose by itself is not much: just vibrant downtown/neighborhoods, weak tax base due to fewer jobs, international airport, several arena/stadium and some diverse restaurants. The metro is where San Jose is king and has nothing to do with San Mateo county line north. It's just Santa Clara county if that were the case.
I would say that Houston is more racially diverse. Ethnically, I don't know.
Big city amenities? Well Houston isn't lacking here compared to San Jose.
similar but maybe Houston by itself is ahead somewhat, if talking strictly by only city itself, not the county/metro. San Jose really does pull its way when it comes to big city downtown/neighborhoods though.

What? Convention centers? Theaters? bars? retail? public transit? What's missing in Houston that is not so called big city amenity?

The OP asked to compare only the cities not the metro areas.
Haha you seem a tad melodramatic about this.
And why do you care if we include metros? The city of Houston has more people than the SJ metro so why so touchy?
