Teacher shortages are everywhere especially in poorer areas in America.

The shortage is actually worse in prosperous cities like San Fran, Denver and Minneapolis.

I'll be in Phoenix next week to visit for the 2nd time since moving away 2 years ago.
I still have some decisions left to make.
I have a couple of friends who live in the Austin area. Because of the reputation lately, people with IT degrees think thats where they need to go to find a job. Jobs in the Austin area are getting 200+ highly qualified candidates for a position. If you live out of state, you won't have any luck. You are more likely to get a tech job in a place like Kansas city then trying to fight for rank in Austin.

Austin has a great startup scene, but Phoenix has a lot more stable companies.

All the companies you listed also have presence in the Phx metro. IBM has more Phoenix employees than Austin Employees. Plus Phoenix has Intel and Honeywells largest employee base.

Here's a few reasons access to mountains all around you, sports and events everywhere, any type of food you could ever want, a growing economy and you can still afford a house here.
