I searched the forum and didn't find anyone who made this thread so I decided to ask.

The food capitol of the other 3 regions are pretty much established(Chicago, NYC, and LA(or SF).

As far as the south goes it has never been established.

I would say Most folks would pick New Orleans, but from what I know they lack good Hispanic cuisine.

Other choices would be Dallas, Houston, Miami and ATL, but even the latter lacks alot(IMO).

I would say its either Dallas or Houston

Yeah I think Miami belongs on the poll for sure.

Anyway this one is a pretty good battle imo. Dallas, Houston and Miami are all very strong in many areas. But ultimately I give this one to Atlanta, with a hat tip to New Orleans. NO is just so amazing, especially for its size, but ATL has the edge particularly in regards to well-roundedness.

Uniqueness, New Orleans.
Variety, Houston.

Atlanta, Dallas, Charleston, and Miami are good but I think the two of Houston and NO are hard to beat. For me, I like variety.

Houston, although certainly there are strong cases for both NOLA and Miami, as well as Charleston (for uniqueness).

You can find almost any food in Atlanta from Southern to International.

Nola has the unique cuisine, but Houston is a huge melting pot of food from all over. Charleston should be on this list...Dallas, really?

New Orleans is typically the first city I think of when I think of Southern and Cajun food. Although I think Miami should possibly be an option on here too (I tend to associate Miami with Cuban food), and I'd imagine Houston and Atlanta have pretty diverse food scenes.

Dallas mostly makes me think of chicken fried steak, and a "bowl of red" Texas-style chili - some of the most "Texas" of foods out there.

Now I want to do a little food tour of the south, thanks!
