I should of clarified my preferences. I'm less inclined to visit an art museum (though I do enjoy art museums too) than i am a neat history museum, science museum, or some time of flora/fauna focused museum. Montreal gets the edge in that department from me and that definitely influenced my response.
It may be just that I'm tired of MoS and the NEAQ, but I feel both are dated and in need of major updating. I actually feel bad directing people to the MoS right now unless it's for a certain visiting exhibit. If you're making the case that MFA Boston is superior to Musee des Beaux-arts, I'd agree with you. I also think the ISG adds more depth to Boston's strengths in the art category. I can't compare the ICA to Musee d'art contemporain as I haven't been to either (I know, I know... i need to get over there).
I would still argue that the two are very close, but based on my preferences, I prefer Montreal by a slight margin on the museum front.
This is primarily why I prefer Montreal on the museum front. I'm also not a zoo person, and Granby isn't in that close to the city, but I do think it's one of the better zoos out there (nothing in New England comes close, really).
Ah! I have actually been to the insectarium. It was pretty neat; I probably forgot about it because we were only in the area to see the botanical garden and the insectarium was right there. I have heard good things about the biodome, and have been meaning to check it out.

That’s fair. The ISG was actually what I used to convince myself that Boston could have the edge in museums. It’s such a cool and unique place. I agree with you about the aquarium and museum of science. Would you say that the Harvard natural history museum is the best nature-based museum in the Boston area? And what do you think of MIT’s science museum?
