Vancouver has some great high-density neighborhoods. I like the tower vibe. It concentrates retail on high streets, which tend to be fairly intense due to the density and concentration. More than any other NA city it integrates a lot of Asia in major ways, particularly China. It does a LOT of things well. (Yes it's too expensive, lacks much economic base, etc.)
The US is much better at concentrating retail on high streets than Canada. Boston particularly. It's shopping streets are much more aesthetic than Vancouver's.

Better scenery
Better quality of life
International and diverse
Low crime
Access to amazing mountains world class skiing
Better summers (not hot)
Great food scene
While more international, Vancouver is in no way more diverse than Boston. I’d argue against the quality of life bit too, but that’s more subjective.
Higher Quality of Life. (GRanted, Boston is one of, if not the highest in America. But no contest to YVR)
Better Diversity
Better access to jobs.
Better Scenery.
The only drawbacks to me are the people. Very pompous imho. Id happily live in Vancouver anyday.
As for the quality of life thing: the biggest point against Boston is usually cost of living, but I’ve heard that Vancouver is just as bad or worse.
Okay you got me at the diversity. I realized I was wrong there.
But better jobs because the market is the same, actually for my industry is slightly better in YVR, but employer benefits are far greater than Corporate American jobs... which is a big plus
