I looked at the 2010 demographic map on wiki and literally it's all blue (black) in these two neighborhoods, but I'm sure the 2020 distribution will look more red (white) with the way Chicago is rapidly gentrifying from the core and seeing tons of development/investment,

(although continuing to lose population overall, especially in the black communities)
Bronzeville, the north half, have been mostly gentrified by Black middle class. It's not drastically changing white in another decade or so.

Literally no correlation of a larger black population will cause more homicides. A sizable portion of those 1,000 homicides in l.a includes hispanics , asians, whites.

LA's black homicide rate in 1992 was 142 per 100k. That's an insane number and the highest black homicide rate of any city I've been able to find yet. Double Chicago's peak black homicide rate.

DC's peaked at 107 per 100k. East St Louis wasn't close either. Neither was Jackson.

Only St Louis, Richmond and New Orleans compared to 142 per 100k.

It's pretty much turned into a Chicago vs. LA historical thread.

D.C homicides: 482 / 443 ( Black victims/ 92% average)
D.C Black pop: 393K
D.C Black rate: 112 per 100K

Main source: Crime of D.C Wikipedia. Additionally D.C police report that stated the average plus pie chart

L.A homicide : 1,092 / 438 ( Black victims / 40%*)

* I've been searching diligently for that percentages and most of the focus on the riots. Lapd reports back then didn't state the number of victims by ethnicity. I have found 36% of the homicides to be gang related with largest increase from hispanic gangs during the 90s. I used the L.A times reports back from 2000-03 to see a percentage pattern ( 38%). The pattern most likely was similar during 90s but added 2 points for margins.

L.A Black pop: 485K
L.A Black rate: 90 per 100K

Peace.
