I mean to be fair, it's underrated because it's not within great driving distance from other major midwest cities and the name "Kansas City" gives it a misunderstanding among the media.
Viewers of Season 3 of "Q***r Eye" on Netflix (damn auto-censor) are getting a taste of just how pretty the place is. The Fab Five make the city look almost as good as the people whose lives they remodel. (They took up residence for the season in the Crossroads, the city's converted-warehouse arts district. Did you know that its First Friday began the same year Philadelphia's First Friday in Old City did? That year was 1981.) Episode 1 concludes with a very romantic wedding cruise along Brush Creek past the Country Club Plaza. This was something you just couldn't do in the KC I grew up in. My forever hometown has come a long, long way since I left it 43 years ago.)

The city in Missouri was the first of the three places bearing the name of the "People of the South Wind" to be named for that Indian tribe; it took the name "Town of Kansas" upon incorporation in 1850, four years before the Kansas Territory was created. (Actually, make that second of four: the state below Missouri bears the French name for the same tribe.)

https://www.travelandleisure.com/tri...-city-michigan

Nine of the top 20 most expensive vacation spots in the Midwest are in the Mitten: Traverse City, Marquette, Ann Arbor, South Haven, Grand Rapids, Mackinaw City, Detroit, Lansing, and St. Ignace.

If you are looking for beauty and nature - then Traverse City should be ranked #1 It is the land of vineyards, beaches, and skiing areas. It has also been consistently ranked as the most expensive Midwestern city to visit in the summer.

"Si quaeris peninsulam amoenam, circumspice."

(Latin: "If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you." It's the Michigan state motto.)

I also see that Mackinac Island, perhaps the most distinctive vacation destination in the state, isn't on this list because its hotels don't list their rooms on Kayak.

Yikes. Cleveland must reeeallly suck in your mind... But if that's you're opinion, you're certainly entitled to it.

It doesn't suck in the least bit. It's just not a city I'm interested in visiting as a tourist. When I travel to Cleveland it is to see family.
