Before I opened the thread, I thought: Sacramento.

Great city, but not on the radar that much.

This is pretty good list. Pretty accurate.

Off the top of my head, some more I would add:

Brunswick, GA
Tallahassee, FL
Chattanooga, TN
Huntsville, AL

I have been to some but not most of the list. I agree with some and not others:

Agree: Sacramento, Rochester, Tucson, Mobile, Greenville, Grand Rapids, Sioux Falls
Disagree: Madison, Athens (GA), Harrisburg, Las Cruces, Des Moines (from what I've heard; haven't been there), Missoula (maybe)

Rest I either don't know enough to say or are somewhere in the middle.

It may not get overlooked....but it definitely does not get the attention it should. The place is an absolute gem. And there is nothing like its narrow isthmus setting in any city. And that narrow isthmus packs a helluva wallop with a downtown that feels like it is in a much bigger city, the energy of the capital and UW, and the like.

As far as overlooked, IMHO Wisconsin has one, but it isn't Madison. It's Milwaukee with one of the most beautiful waterfronts in America right on the open waters of Lake Michigan. Milwaukee may be looked at (and I'm sure it is by some) as a miniature version of its neighbor to the south. Milwaukee shares a lot with Chicago and gives you something much better than Chicago can: access to activity. Milwaukee is easy to manage, far more open and easier on the budget than its big brother. And that's a good thing.

A town of 16,000 people should be overlooked. I'm guessing this one is personal for you.

I've scoured the map for possible relocation to existing offices for my husband's job. Olympia is my top choice. I hope we get there some day. We've done Missoula. I feel like it gets more credit than it deserves. I'd swap it out for Boise.

I didn't realize Sacramento is overlooked. It's pretty well-known in my opinion.

Okay, maybe because I've been there.
