Berkeley has way more activism. Cambridge liberals are definitely a different breed and have a people's republic mentality. But it's more intellectually liberal and a lot more tame than Berkeley which is more reactionary.

This seems like probably(?) a good description. Cambridge (and MA in general) have a quieter, older version of liberalism, whereas Berkeley (and CA in general) seem to have a louder, more modern version based on reputation.
#2 I'm wondering more so if I'd pick Ann Arbor or Cambridge. I may say Ann Arbor.
