I figured this would be an interesting comparison. Both cities have a similar metro population and are both in the sunbelt. However they are also quite different. I'm wondering which do you think is better.

Some criteria to consider.

1. Downtown
2. Walkability
3. Things to do
4. Recreation
5. COL
6. Economy
7. Climate
8. Scenery
9. Restaurants/Food
10. Transportation Car and Public
11.Suburbs
12. Where would you rather live?

1. Downtown: San Antonio
2. Walkability: Vegas strip somewhat, downtown San Antonio. Give edge to Vegas.
3. Things to do: Vegas
4. Recreation: Vegas
5. COL: San Antonio
6. Economy: San Antonio (bit more diverse)
7. Climate: San Antonio
8. Scenery: Vegas
9. Restaurants/Food: Vegas
10. Transportation Car and Public: Hmm..Vegas by a hair
11.Suburbs: Vegas
12. Where would you rather live? San Antonio

In your criteria above, Las Vegas edges San Antonio.

But personally, I'd rather live in San Antonio. It doesn't have the gambling, the crazy strip and tourist crowd hassles and nonsense that Vegas does.

I think San Antonio has way more to offer than Las Vegas. San Antonio has the Alamo, Riverwalk, the Space Needle, Seaworld, Fiesta Texas, the Spurs, and nearby in the suburbs is Schlitterbahn, the Snake Farm, and Buc-ee's in New Braunfels, and 7 to 10 minutes right down road from there is the Tanger and Prime Outlet Malls in San Marcos, Cabela's in Buda, and then another 5 minutes from therr is Austin and all it has to offer.

As far as I know, the only things Las Vegas has to offer is nearby Hoover Dam and theme-park style casino gambling.
