That first link includes a Philadelphia movie I should have included but didn't, Trading Places.

Not to mention the entire Rocky franchise and its reboot, Creed.

Miami O&D stats are higher than this because this is only MIA and excluding FLL. Houston also edges Atlanta by 100k when you add HOU numbers with IAH numbers. Dallas has 2 airports but DFW is the only intl one since DAL is all domestic. Boston has a few airports but Logan is the only intl port there.

For all this big talk about Sea-Tac it’s O&D stats are disappointing...
Thank you for that. However, these numbers are not O&D only, they are total enplanements.

You are saying exactly what I'm saying, so what's the problem?

Somebody mentioned gang starr for Boston. Wanted to point out that Guru (RIP) was from Boston but DJ Premier has Houston area roots.

Philly grew due to German immigrants looking for land, and its fall line location making it a hub for milling. It lagged Boston for imports/exports after the Rev. War.

Philly historically has also had a lower share of its population born in foreign countries than Boston. It's an American plenty-of-land city, not a high per capita GDP seaport/int'l transport hub.

Extremely talented folk. Also, New Edition with the exception of Johnny Gill.

The high per capita GDP doesn't have much sway. Comparing a few other major metros to the Philadelphia area. (numbers are two years old, but this is the general range).

Philadelphia MSA - $63,600
New York MSA - $71,000
Los Angeles MSA - $67,700
Chicago MSA - $61.100
Houston MSA - $63,300
Atlanta MSA - $56,800

Bostons high GDP per capita is impressive, but it would be a skewed measurement since it is an outlier. (higher than New York, LA, Chicago, and DC).

By your last few posts, its seems like you either think lowly of the Philadelphia area, or you aren't very educated on the Philadelphia economy or its influence.

The numbers speak for themselves, and Philadelphia falls exactly in line with a top 6-10 American city economically and influentially.

"plenty of land..not high per capital int'l transit hub" that is how you would describe Wichita Kansas, not a metro of 6+ million people with one of the largest economies in the country...

(also, the Philadelphia metro is one the smallest major metros in land area, another interesting stat that doesn't line up with the "plenty of land" theory).
