Chicago 510 (499 as of 8/17 per CPD statistics)

There have been more interstate shootings, one of them involving a retired suburban teacher killed after being caught in a crossfire on the Dan Ryan. There's been another one; this time on the Eisenhower with a shooting that ended in a crash. One was killed due to injuries from being shot and other died of injuries from the crash. But interstate shootings aren't counted in the CPD statistics. There's been 5 killed, 35 shot over the weekend.

Gun fights in Downtown Portland like it's the OK Corral or something - not sure if anyone was hit though.

KCMO: 100 homicides so far for a homicide rate of 20/100K

St Louis with 119 homicides so far for a homicide rate of 40/100K.

Both the Missouri cities are seeing substantially lower homicide numbers compared to this time last year. 2020 was a terrible year for both cities- STL saw a record breaking homicide rate (88 per 100K, previous record was 69 per 100K in 1993) and KCMO saw a record breaking number of homicides (175 compared to the previous high of 153 in 1993).

Another person stabbed to death outside Southampton Street shelter; fifth Methadone Mile murder this year

This homeless disaster Area in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood is out of control. The FBI has busted dealers there who disguise themselves as homeless people to avoid detection while dealing...i was there recently and it felt like The Wire.

An old Best Western that opened up 20 years ago in hopes to revitalize the area has recently closed down permanently as has a 7-11 in the area-too many vagrants. They're looking at the possibility of converting the now empty hotel into transitional housing for these homeless and addicted.

^this is a very clean day for the area

Pittsburgh is at 41 so far for 2021. Using our 2020 population count of 302,971 that gives us a homicide rate of 13.5/100,000.

*I work for the city police and work beside our homicide analyst. Often times I see Pittsburgh totals that are much higher than the 41 above. Be advised Allegheny County (housing Pittsburgh) is home to 130 municipalities, and many of those municipalities utilize a "Pittsburgh, PA" mailing address/zip code. This often leads to homicides in suburbs like Wilkinsburg or McKees Rocks or West Mifflin counted with the city when they should not be.
