Isn't Charlotte growing at a faster pace than Nashville?

At one point they both had the same growth percentage in 2019 though I believe Charlotte posted larger raw numbers. Here's a link that shows both cities MSA percentage growth at 17.5 percent from 2010-2019.

Ok fine, I stand corrected but my earlier point still stands.

A big part of that is the covid 19 restrictions currently in North Carolina and more specifically Charlotte as compared to Florida and Georgia. 120,000 people work in Uptown and this a big hole since 90 percent of these people are working from home now or are not working at home. Also due to limits of gatherings at places of recreation, restaurants, employment centers there is alot less car traffic, foot traffic, and " busyness" that you were describing all over the city.Trust me I really miss pre-covid Charlotte. It is definitely a lot less busy...

Atlanta culturally, but in terms of that mid sized metro aesthetic I would say Nashville.

I Googled Matthews and it kind of looks like Jonesboro a bit or Main St in Forest Park.

Funny you say that, I was speaking to my Dad's best friend a couple of days ago about Charlotte. He's been living there for over 10 years now and he told me the exact same thing. He said it's a big city that feels like a small one outside of Uptown. He said he loves it like that though. Enough big city amenities without feeling the overwhelming environment of a living in a big city.

Orlando (excluding tourist area) feels right where it should be in terms of MSA population: smaller than Tampa, bigger than Nashville. Charlotte is just weird.
Eh, not really. I think in their cores, they feel like similarly-sized places more or less.

Seems like Charlotte just tapers off into extreme suburbia much quicker than Orlando does, and perhaps leads to the feeling I'm getting here.

Aerial views from Googlemaps appear to indicate that as well:

https://www.google.com/maps/@35.2295.../data=!3m1!1e3

https://www.google.com/maps/@28.5433.../data=!3m1!1e3

I'll drive around some more while I'm here and see if my perspective changes.

There also seems to be a notable lack of outdoor activity (outdoor dining, people biking/rollerblading, etc.)

If anyone here knows of some areas (outside of Downtown/Uptown and South End) that I should check out that might steer my viewpoint, feel free to share. Beautiful city -- just feels small.
