Only 15 shot in NYC labor day weekend that’s a 48% drop from Sept. 3, 4 and 5 of 2021, when 29 people were wounded in 20 separate shootings. The city is seeing shootings and homicides trending down but other crimes increasing such as robberies, break ins, transit, assaults. Chicago as well seeing homicides and shootings trending down but other crimes are increasing.

Imagine how many victims of homicides people in the impoverished neighborhoods know, they probably have stories going back decades of friends and family lost to gun violence. Such a small city with so much history of homicides.

I am glad to see this. I was worried because for a while Cincinnati seemed like it was plowing "full steam ahead" but has now slowed down. Same with Pittsburgh. We are only a bit above-average now for this time of the year vs. how we were racking them up quickly for a while.

It's worth noting that many of the recorded incidents on the gun violence archives include everything such as suicides. Some of the incidents are also duplicated for some reason. I noticed these flaws in the records of my town where they listed the same incident twice and that was an officer involved shooting.
Stocktons number is also off, the homicide total so far is around 39-41 I believe.

Thank you for qualifying that some of these include suburban homicides. In the case of Pittsburgh a lot of adjacent suburbs blend seamlessly into the urban fabric of the city and share "Pittsburgh, PA" zip codes, so it creates a lot of confusion sometimes. The city proper is only at 47. I am going to guess the other 8 are all suburbs that have "Pittsburgh, PA" zip codes attached. Unlike many other major cities Pittsburgh has a lot of rough suburbs due to gentrification in the city pricing some of the problem elements out.

Now up to 48 after a stabbing in our troubled Homewood neighborhood.
