Do you know what the total is for the metro? Longueuil and Laval have had a few each, right?
I have no idea to be honest, but I'm guessing the metropolitan area is hovering around 50-55, total population of 4.3 million. Our range in the metropolitan area is about 1.1-1.2/100,000.

wow, I think Montreal has roughly the same as the Boston MSA, which I count 57... Boston MSA has 5.0mil people, however.

As posted by another poster all Burroughs similar to Boston except Bronx. Staten Island even lower than Boston.
But NYC is also 44% of the MSA Population. Boston is 18% of MSA population. So this really hard to compare city limits... because just comparing Boston City to New York City, you also leaving out parts of the literal Downtown area (Cambridge City) that isn't included.
If we are comparing all five boroughs I would do:
Manhattan - Boston
Brooklyn - Cambridge / Somerville
Bronx - Revere / Chelsea / Everett
Queens - Quincy
Staten Island - Newton
I think this goes for places like DC, Miami, SF and Boston alike. You are comparing cities that have 40-60% of their MSA populations to those who have 5-20%. lol.
Also, Boston - 38.

Double homicide in Montreal, now at 38. Officially the worst year in a decade.
