Still a nice sign of improvement.
I'm praying for this. It's weird though, it seems like there will be a few days of calm then a random day where a bunch of craziness happens and there are like 5 homicides.

Also, climate change isn't our friend. It should be pretty cold by now (it's December in the northeast) but there's a bunch of mild weather ahead. It's going to be near 60 on Wednesday.

Every city is like that though. It's usually retalitory violence and sometimes coincidentially happen simultneously in several neighborhoods city wide.
I know in Socal, especially LA, if there's a spike in violence that last a few months it's usually certain gangs having an episode of conflict.

Pittsburgh is now up to 68. That may rise soon due to several being in critical condition from other recent shootings.

Looks like we will smash 2014's 70 homicides out of the water.

Especially from being up by quite a bit earlier in the year.

It's like that in Baltimore also - sometimes you can go a week with zero homicide (although a fair amount of non-fatal shootings) and boom...5 homicides a week that happen on weekdays no less.

I haven't follow the trend for Portland OR, but it was always one of the safer metro areas especially for homicide number...looks like that's not the case anymore.

As for Philly - well, <500 would definitely be an improvement, considering how bad Philly was for a few months.

I wonder what changed for New Orleans. Prior to covid I believe they were talking about how murders were on the downswing and then this year and the last it just blew up. Unfortunate. Crazy how things can change so fast. Wonder if it’s the new mayor or just people lost their minds after covid came. I can’t recall any significant changes. Hopefully it can get back on track next year.

Richmond looking to end the year down 30 - 35% in homicides from 2021 and most likely lower than the pre-pandemic count of 66 in 2019. Hopefully that downward trend extends into 2023 as well. I don't think I have ever seen Norfolk with a higher rate than Richmond before...
