Food: Montreal
Culture: Montreal (I'd feel more at home being a native french speaker vs Seattle)
Nightlife/Entertainment: Montreal
Economy: Seattle
Scenery: Seattle though Montreal is no slouch
Urbanity: Montreal
Tourism: Montreal
Climate: Seattle
Shopping: idk
QOL: Seattle
COL: idk
Brighter Future: idk
Prefer to live: Montreal
Prefer to visit: Montreal
Seattle seems cool but I'd prefer Montreal. I'd feel more at home culturally especially with the Francophone culture in place and the international flavor (Italians, French, Irish, Haitians, Algerians, Lebanese, French Africans etc). I'm just not too into the Pacific Northwest like that.
Montreal is much more of a "real city" feel than Seattle.
Food: Montreal (mostly cuz of pricing, although Seattle is decent enough)
Culture: Montreal blows Seattle away
Nightlife/Entertainment: Montreal is top 5 in USA/Canada probably; Seattle is pretty good too but not top 5 and not same level of diversity of entertainment as compared w/ Montreal
Economy: Seattle by a lot
Scenery: Seattle by a lot
Urbanity: Montreal is top 5 or 6 in the USA/Canada; Seattle is fine but not at that level
Tourism: Hard to say; I'd argue Seattle
Climate: Neither good (Seattle less bad IMO but depends on your view)
Shopping: Montreal
QOL: Montreal
CoL: Montreal
Brighter FUture: Seattle
Prefer to live: Seattle
Prefer to visit: Montreal
Food: Montreal. Both are great food towns, but Montreal's food scene is one of the best in North America. Quebecois cuisine is unique and delicious on its own, but Montreal is a very diverse place and the variety from around the world is top notch. Culture: Montreal is the more unique of the two. It's also more of an "international" city. Nightlife/Entertainment: Montreal. It's one of the better cities for nightlife in North America (and not just for 18yo Americans) Economy: Seattle by a good margin. Scenery: Seattle. Urbanity: Montreal by far. It's a very dense urban center. Seattle's not bad on this front, but it's not in the same league as Montreal. Tourism: Tie. really depends on what you're looking for. If you're just spending a weekend in the city eating, drinking, and exploring the urban center, I think Montreal is the better destination. It has an excellent public transit system which makes getting around easy too. But if you're going to explore the region, it's tough to beat Seattle with the mountains and Puget Sound immediately adjacent. Climate: Seattle by a good margin. Neither are noted for wonderful weather, but Montreal is brutally cold. Shopping: Montreal by a nose. Both have most of the big international chains, but Montreal has a great local boutique scene that's unique to the city/region. QOL: Tie. COL: Montreal by a good margin. Brighter Future: Probably Seattle. It's on a steeper upward trajectory at the moment and I don't see much changing that. Prefer to live: Seattle. Prefer to visit: Montreal.
