There are no real differences between RI and MA on this. Most New England states have robust legal protections.

Stronger than those in Pennsylvania (we don't have a hate crime or anti-bullying law), yet Pittsburgh ranked #8 on the survey. And all of the basic protections (housing, employment, public accommodations) are in place here, as is transgender health care.

Riverside/San Bernardino (RSB) has a large LGBTQ population of approximately 133,000 (the 14th largest LGBTQ population among MSAs in the USA). It is located in California, which has, very arguably, the strongest legal protections and public support for LGBTQ rights in the nation. California is also the most sex-positive state in the nation. Also, RSB is located near Los Angeles and its dating scene. RSB also has Palm Springs in its MSA (Riverside County), and Palm Springs has a pretty large LGBTQ presence for its small size. Lastly, I only ranked RSB as a runner-up on my list, not as a Top 10. I think all things considered it excels in LGBTQ representation.

Boston has lost Ramrod, Machine, Eagle, Fritz, Luxors, Napolean Club, Paradise, and more with nothing replacing them fairly quickly. PVD has at least five: Stable, Eagle, Dark Alley, Alley Cat and Mirabar. Plus bathhouses (2) that Boston doesn't. Pride seems more robust here too.
Wow, I didn’t know all those places closed. The club scene in Boston has gotten pretty dismal overall, hasn’t it? I still miss Manray after all these years.

We Pennsylvanians have some state-wide protections. We are no Massachusetts nor New York, but we are also not Alabama nor West Virginia level unprotected. We have housing and employment protections, but no statewide hate crime protections nor anti-conversation therapy laws.

But yes, as Duderino pointed out, many of Pennsylvania's municipal governments have more comprehensive protections. Living as an LGBTQ person in Philadelphia County is a totally different experience than Fulton County, PA, for reasons both "legal" and "fun."

Kinda. There has been a slate of larger music venues opening. Those are pretty strong. Smaller indy venues, not so much.

ManRay was sweet. Those Sleep Chamber halloween shows were something else.

I think NYC has the largest with over 2 million in attendance.

I know Chicago is similar a little smaller than NYC.

St. Louis averages 250k at their main pride event. I know there are several smaller LGBTQ events throughout the summer.

Pride events are not uncommon. Nashville I heard had 100k.
