Have you been to Detroit lately to let them know they have a MUCH better economy than Chicago? I go to Detroit every few months to visit friends, and they'll be curious to hear your news.

DC has the National Mall, which yes it is a huge park. It has more parkland than NYC, a city 15x its size.

The reason Chicago Park District has less park acreage is because it doesn't include the Cook County Forest Preserve District's Forest Preserves that are located within the city. You conveniently chose not to include this in your average.
O_O

NYC's parkland would take up a huge chunk of DC if not most (or even all) of DC.

Both cities have similar percentages of parkland but as far as an actual amount it's not even close, and I wouldn't expect it to be considering the size differences.

LOL, you just made up all these numbers! Your links don't even reference the numbers!

And Illinois obviously isn't the same thing as Chicago! Are you smoking a crack pipe or something? If we're discussing San Francisco unemployment, what use is a California unemployment rate?

When you make up your numbers, at least talk about the correct jurisdiction! Maybe next time make up Anchorage numbers to support your argument!

As has been DOCUMENTED on city data, Chicago has BY FAR the worst economy in the nation, with roughly 70,000 jobs lost annually. Detroit, the second worst economy in the nation, loses about 30,000 jobs annually.

And once again, here's the evidence, direct from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

Chicago has, by far, the crappiest economy. Even Detroit has a MUCH better economy, with only 30,000 lost jobs per year compared to Chicago's 70,000 annual loss.

And, what do you know, Houston is rapidly gaining jobs, and will soon surpass Chicago.

You know perfectly well that Chicago has, by far, the nation's worst economy, because you made up excuses to defend it in this thread!

LOL, what a horrible, fake arguement, LOL.

According to Ohio248's methodology, the Bay area has a worse economy than Memphis, Sacramento, or Milwaukee. lol

This parkland argument is all a lot of fun.

DC has a lot of parkland, but nowhere near as much as NYC in total. This is understandable as NYC is physically far larger than DC is. However, they both have very high and approximately equal percentages of parkland.

The parkland argument against Chicago is interesting, because this discussion is supposed to be centered on a comparison to Brooklyn alone--in which case, both have a little over 8% parkland (Brooklyn has the smallest percentage of parkland of all the 5 boroughs). And while Brooklynites can certainly make an easy trip out to the other boroughs to get more parkland access, Chicagoans can do the same by heading to the Cook County Forest Preserves which are mostly at the periphery of Chicago itself.

Anyhow, how about the quality of the parks? The general distribution (I much prefer the smaller parks of Manhattan spread throughout the city)? Many of Chicago's parks are amazing.

Sorry! I didn't realize I should have explained things better.

The numbers I posted as the 9/09 employment numbers are from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics link I posted at the beginning of my post in the column "Employment" and the row for "September 2009" for the Chicago Metropolitan area.

The numbers I posted as the 9/10 employment numbers are in the column "Employment" and column "September 2010" for the Chicago metro area.

The numbers I posted as 9/09 Unemployed are from the column "Unemployment" and the row "September 2009".

The numbers I posted for 9/10 Unemployed are from the column "Unemployment" and the row "September 2010".

The numbers I posted for "9/09 unemployment" are from the column "unemployment rate" and the row "September 2009".

The numbers I posted for "9/10 unemployment" are from the column "unemployment rate" and the row "September 2010".

You can private me if you want me to run through everything again. I've honestly never seen anyone as blindly obsessed with the city of Chicago as you!!

Ohio248 "forgot" to include the Cook County Forest Preserve District property located both within and just outside the city limits.

Other than babbling about 40 story parking structures and job loss in Chicago, I have yet to see Ohio248 actually post some concrete data from a legitimate source.

Imagine if Chicago loses nearly a million jobs in a decade?

Some Chicago forumers will make excuses, but it's hard to argue with offical government job numbers. Even Detroit, the next worst, lost only 30,000 jobs.
