Like I said, you just can't judge solely based on how it looks from the outside. You should also base it on the neighborhood it's in, what the interior is like, how accessible it is, what events it offers, etc.
You have seen the outside of Staples Center and the interior of it from pics. Here are a few from its neighborhood, South Park in Downtown L.A.
For being accessible, the blue line is one block from the Staple Center and the Red Line subway is three blocks away. For drivers it is located close to the freeway by the 110/10 intersection. Union Station, a hub for Metrolink and Amtrak trains is in downtown and can be connected to by the subway three blocks north.
There are clubs for those looking to "party" after a game, such as the rooftop at the Standard:
or head over to the Conga Room
Plus you got L.A. Live just across the street:
If you are up for some shopping, some of L.A.'s most unique shopping experiences can be found in the adjacent Fashion District.
In my opinion, Staples Center is in a great location.
it's criminal. Penn Station went from being the greatest railroad palace to being a low-ceiling dimly-lit underground mess underneath an arena. There's a quote, I forget who said it, that goes like, "We used to enter New York City like kings, now we scurry in like rats." I can't wait for a new MSG and the NEW train stations (plural) around 34th Street!
^^^ most def Which is why The poll is close, every one Favors NY on these forums.Even though some people Know Staples is better they will give the vote to Ny b/c they don't like LA.
I'd go with MSG because of ease of public transit. Still, the idea that LA doesn't have public transportation is wrong. It does, and it actually works pretty well. (one of my biggest pet peeves about the stereotypes people hold about LA, actually. That and LA doesn't have a downtown. Or that you "have" to drive.) It's also easy to take to Staples, but it's more likely that you'd have to transfer.
