Both are awesome. I prefer SF, the overall vibe and layout of the city appeals more to me. LA is cool and has the best weather in the US aside from San Diego IMO. I could happily live there. I think the reason why LA gets hated on so much is that it is just one those cities you have to get to know well in order to see how amazing it really is.
Anything over 80 with humidity or 85 w/o humidity is too hot for my tastes.
LA regularly gets over 100.

LA (downtown and the basin) does not regularly get over 100.
Even where I live, in the San Fernando Valley, it has reached or exceeded 100 degrees only 5 days so far this summer.
As the figures you posted show, the average maximum temp for Los Angeles for July and August is 83 degrees. A place with that average maximum does not regularly have temps of 100 degrees.
Er, not that SFUSD is heaven on earth, but SFs school district has better average test scores than the LAUSD.
